Vera Louise Collins Knapp

11/11/1933 - 4/4/2020

Vera Louise Collins Knapp, age 86, passed away April 4, 2020 after a long battle with cancer.  She was born to the late Harold F. Sr and Veronica Collins in Long Island, New York and preceded in death by husband Lyle F Knapp Sr, her parents and brothers Harold and Harvey.

 

She graduated from Miami Edison Sr High School in 1951 and after additional clerical training she went to work for the Prudential Insurance Company.  On two occasions she broke service to work for the State Department where she was stationed in India and Thailand. While at Prudential she began as a clerk in the clerical office before working up to Office Manager of the clerical staff.  It was at Prudential where she met her future husband Lyle F Knapp Sr.  

 

Over the years Vera poured love into her family, ran her own successful business “Vera Fashion Fabrics”, served and led multiple church committees and programs at First Baptist Church Boca Raton and continued her church service in the offices of LifePointe Church Eustis retiring last August.

 

Vera is survived by her loving family; Constance Knapp Thompson (Daniel Erwin), Diana Knapp Woolls (James) and Lyle F Knapp Jr “Jack” (Mary); 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister in laws Helen Peterson and Pat Collins as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where she will be joined with her late husband Lyle F Knapp Sr who passed away in 2004.
